I'm using RADIUS and MS-CHAP v2 for User Authentication. So, based on these steps you can see I'm using L2TP as my VPN Type. For our network, the Account Name is set up in the the RADIUS Configuration (mentioned in STEP 1). STEP 4: Configure the VPN's Server Address (we use an IP address here, but this could be the FQDN of the VPN Server) and VPN user's Account Name.

STEP 3: I define the VPN user's password and provide the shared key (configured in STEP 1). STEP 2: I created a new connection interface on my MacBook Pro. I also use a RADIUS Server to manage user access to the VPN, so I set my RADIUS Configurations as well. After that selection, I define the pre-shared key and the gateway/subnet. Since PPTP is not longer available in MacOS Catalina, I opted for L2TP Server as my VPN Type. STEP 1: Our VPN configuration (and our entire network) is built on Ubiquiti's UniFi platform. I'm going to provide some images here to show you a little about my configuration, which I use to connect my MacBook Pro to my work VPN. To correctly configure your MacOS to work with your VPN configuration, you must first know what equipment and protocols you are using in your VPN Host Configuration (like onecogmind mentioned above). It may help to think about this VPN connection problem in a different fashion.
